yep. ive had my period the whole time. my doctor said that its normal for that to happen if you get pregnant right away.

It is impossible to have your period while pregnant. Spotting yes, period no.

no it is NOT impossible to have a period while pg.... i have heard of this happening to several people.... and a few i know personally.

Yes it is impossible if you know anything about what a menstrual cycle really is.

It is NOT impossible. I know a few people who have had periods or rather spotting thru out. I am on who has had spotting thru out my pregnancy. So it's not impossible. My friend didn't know she was pregnant till she was 6months along, because of still getting the spotting right around the time her period was due. and she bled all the way till she delivered.

She had spotting, she did NOT have her period.

Honestly, I hope it is MUD and that you're just bored.

I have a really hard time understanding how anyone with their wits about them doesn't use BC after PG--the most fertile time in your life. Why would you have waited 10+ months to even ask? And ditto PP--spotting is possible, but you can't shed a uterine lining while PG--that's not exactly rocket science.

no its not made up at all.  why would i do that????? i don't need extra drama. i think this is enough.

It IS impossible. A period is when your uterus sheds its lining in response to an ABSENCE of pregnancy. Your uterus cannot shed its lining and simultaneously maintain a pregnancy. It is impossible.

IT'S STILL NOT CONSIDERED YOUR PERIOD. are you freaking stupid or WHAT?! seriously. your PERIOD means your shedding your uterine lining... uhm, are you doing that WHILE pg? NO.

    get some sense.

  • Well if this is for real than congrats.  That is pretty crazy though.  I was so sick early on that I knew something was up right away, but I know some people have symptom-free pregnancies.  Do you have an anterior placenta?  That could explain the fact that you aren't feeling movement.  I understand why people are skeptical, but it's getting a little carried away.

Spotting and having a period are two different things. Your body can not shed the uterine lining when there's a baby in the uterus and the baby actually make it. Therefore, it IS impossible to have a period while pregnant. But spotting is possible.

Take it easy.  Not everyone believes in birth control.  That doesn't mean they're stupid.

Did you miss the part of her post where she said she went to get BC? I get it that some people don't use it at all (my family is Irish Catholic) but if you do, that's just not smart.

I'm just curious. How did you not notice any of the pregnancy signs? You're due just a few days before I am and period or not, there are a ton of other signs that are fairly obvious (particularly since you had a child 10 months ago and would be able to recognize these signs easily). For example: a pregnant belly doesn't look or feel like belly fat at 7 months.

Calling MUD, but either way...why the hell would you decide to get birth control 10 months after delivering, rather then at the 6 week check up?  If you thought you were having your period, you should have also thought you were fertile....

  • Not defending anything here but if you have heavy spotting or a light period who among us would really know the difference?

What I don't get is how you didn't feel the baby move especially having just had a baby. You weren't even a little suspicious????

Oh, and RUN do not walk to a new DR. Didn't a DR put their hands on you? Didn't they ask you if you could be PG? This is the first question I am always asked when seeing any DR. And the answer is always yes if you are not on BC and have had sex.

    What a comedy of errors.

  • I just wanted to say congratulations and hope is all going well!  Ignore the rest of the flaming....obviously, this topic has got some folks hoppin' this morning!

Are you scheduled for an ultrasound, etc?

I'm curious about this as well, but I guess if you have a 10-month-old, you are preoccupied...as oppsed to, say, me - whose brain is now located in my uterus and can't function when asked to think about anything else! :)

Yes it does. It does if you don't use birth control, have unprotected sex, and then are surprised about being pregnant.

That's not what you said.  You said anyone who doesn't use BC after being pg is stupid.  If you don't use BC, and you are then shocked when you become pg, you might be not so bright, but that isn't what you said at all.  You basically said that if you don't get put on BC right away after having a baby, you're stupid.  I'm just pointing out that many women don't believe it for one reason or another, and that doesn't make them stupid, especially if they realize they may become pregnant.

This is the same thing I'm trying to figure out. I was visibly pregnant to strangers at 17 weeks. I can't imagine making it to my 3rd trimester without realizing I was pg. I've been able to see kicking and movement for months.

  • well congrats! I knew someone who didn't know they were pregnant until they were in labor, doc told her the same thing...constipation or whatever. I think its shotty of your doc not to at least do a pregnancy test even though you were spotting every month but at least you know now! Welcome to the boards!

I know I get preoccupied with my DD, that I sometimes have to stop myself to make sure I feel Baby #2. Also, since all women show differently, it can be possible that she thought that she was just getting fat. I wish you luck OP.

I can understanding not showing until 5 months with your first, but this is your 2nd and you're about 7 months pregnant now. Those 2 months are a big difference. And regardless... you said you thought it was belly fat. It's hard for me to understand how at 7 months your belly feels (not just looks) like fat rather than like a pregnant belly.

no it is NOT impossible to have a period while pg.... i have heard of this happening to several people.... and a few i know personally.

Yes it is impossible if you know anything about what a menstrual cycle really is.

I'm guessing when the OP said "period" she meant "bleeding" - which one would think was a period if they didn't think they were pregnant. You can spot so heavily that it looks JUST LIKE a period, the only difference being whether there is uterine lining in the bleeding, which, really, most people arent' checking out. Tone it down a notch.
