Has anybody given birth at Centennial Hills Hospital??? Would love to read about your experience. I want to give birth there but have found very little information and/or references.
We're adopting and our birth mom is giving birth at Centennial Hills. She's calling us as soon as she goes into labor and we'll be with her the entire time, so I can post and let you know. She's due on Tuesday and we're just waiting around in a hotel until then!
I was at Centennial for pneumonia while I was pregnant in Oct. 2010. It was horrible. They basically forgot about me. I was in isolation because the swine flu was going around and they didn't even tell me!! Finally one of the nurses yelled at me because I kept opening my door. Everyday for just about each meal I had to call and ask where my food was. They would make up fake menus and tell me that is what I asked for...like grits. I was there 4 days. I also never got my breathing treatments, which I found out that I was suppose to get 3 times a day the last day I was there and they billed my insurance them!! Lastly, I was suppose to have the baby's heartbeat checked twice a day...one was check twice while I was there. It was horrible. I was planning on having my birth there until that experience. I live in the sub across the way (walking distance)...I went to Sumerlin instead and loved it! This is just my experience...
Our birth mom ended up delivering at Mountain View after going to Centennial Hills for a false alarm and being unhappy with them. We spent a lot of time at Mountain View - in the room with the birth mom the entire day of the birth, and visiting the baby in the nursery since he was in the hopsital for three days.
It seemed like the birth mom got good care. However, the nursing staff coule have been nicer. There were a couple of nurses who were pretty rude to us, but I hear that happens often to adoptive parents. A couple of nurses got really testy with me for taking LO's clothes off so I could put him inside my shirt for skin to skin bonding time (which I felt was so important since we were adopting). However, other nurses were great. One got us a private room to hang out in all day with LO one of the days we were visiting.
While the nurses could have been friendlier, I did feel like LO had good care.
