10 weeks and bleeding

I am hoping someone can give me some "I've been there/done that" good news.  I am supposed 10 weeks pregnant.  First positive home test was 4/8/10.  I went to the OB on 4/30 for first appt.  I had a little bleeding then and they sent me for an ultrasound.   The US showed an egg sack, but no baby!  The doc said that it was either an abnormal pregnancy or a miscarriage.  Damn!  My HCG level that day was 33,000 (pregnant) and 3 days later it was 3,400.  Ok, so I resigned myself to miscarriage.

One week later, 5/7/10, the OB called and said my HCG level was rising again-5,500-meaning still pregnant.  WTF! I am still bleeding (12 days).  I took another home test and it was positive.  I am having abdomen twinges, but no other symptoms of pregnancy.

Has this happened to anyone?  It's my first pregnancy.  My OB doesn't know what's going on.  I have another ultrasound tomorrow.

    Polly, I am so sorry you're going through this!  Especially on your first pregnancy... I have heard situations like yours where the mother would be told a variety of different things up until she delivered a healthy baby.   At this point it's hard to tell.

     I'm hoping that tomorrow comes quick for you and that you get more answers with your ultrasound.  Keep us posted, T&P going your way.
