Induction ending in a c-section with some complications

I was scheduled to start my induction at 7:30pm on April 20th. I had not made any progress since I was 35 weeks and was still only 1cm dilated and 75% effaced when I got to L&D. The original plan was to use Cytotec overnight and start Pitocin in the morning. When they put me on the monitor I was actually contracting. They were the same ones I?d been having for weeks, but were never picked up during my NST?s. My OB decided to change my induction to low dose Pitocin over night and then start increasing it at 6am. He was worried I?d go to fast like I did with my daughter and he wouldn?t make it in time. I was pretty much awake all night and my contractions were picking up and starting to hurt a little. They picked up a lot faster when they started increasing it at 6am. My OB arrived at 7am and checked me, I was 3cm dilated. He broke my water and I got my epidural shortly after that. Konnor started having decels soon after and they were having trouble keeping him on the monitor. The OB resident came to put in an internal monitor, but was unsuccessful after 2 tries. I must say that was really uncomfortable. My nurse pretty much kicked her out and decided to just stay with me and use the external monitor. She had to move it around a lot to keep him on. I was pretty comfortable until 11am, which is when I started feeling a lot of pain/pressure. I was only 7.5cm so they gave me another dose of meds in my epi. I got a catheter around this time too since I was putting out so much urine. They would take it out when I got to 10cm. Around 12pm I started feeling the pressure again, I was checked by my OB and I was 9.5cm. The OB resident came back and tried to place the internal monitor again, since he was still having decels, thank god she was successful. My nurse had me get on all fours on my bed to get rid of the last lip of cervix. I was mortified being in that position. After 20 minutes of embarrassment the resident checked me again and said I was 10cm and to start pushing. My nurse took out my foley and had me start. She checked me after a few pushes and surprise surprise?.I was still only 9.5cm. The resident was an idiot. My nurse went and yelled at her. My OB came back since he was doing a c-section and decided to have me push in a gazillion different positions. 2 residents and my OB tried to manually turn him since he was facing the wrong way. I thought that was going to kill me. After 2 hours of pushing I didn?t make any progress and Konnor was having even more decels. We decided a c-section would be best. My nurse gave me my second foley of the day. The CRNA came back and gave me my meds for my spinal and they wheeled me to the OR.

Konnor was born at 2:57pm on April 21st weighing 9lbs 1oz and 21.5in long. They brought him over to DH after the pedi gave him a clean bill of health. He was really mellow and hardly cried when he came out. The c-section was very typical until they were trying to close me up. Things got very quiet and I heard my OB ask for someone to grab the senior resident to come in and help. I got really dizzy and just about passed out. Being a nurse I started asking a bunch of questions. My pressure had bottomed out because I was squirting blood from my incision on my uterus in 2 spots. It kept bleeding through the sutures. He finally got it to stop after 3 attempts in both spots. The CRNA was pumping me full of a bunch of meds and fluids to keep up my pressure. I felt horrible and I could tell my OB was getting worried. I was sent to recovery for a couple of hours and then to postpartum. They were checking my hemoglobin frequently and decided to order 3 units of blood for me. I felt a million times better after getting those.

The day after getting home I started feeling a lot worse. I was having really bad pelvic pain, I couldn?t even stand up straight. I figured I was just having a rough recovery. I was sweating like crazy and convinced myself it was just hormones. On Wednesday I took my temp and I had a fever of 104. I called my OB and was sent to the ER. I was admitted for endometritis, a really bad infection in my uterus. My incision was perfect and totally healed over which is why I thought everything was okay. I stayed for 3 more days for IV antibiotics. Konnor got to stay with me so I could continue to breastfeed.

I?m just starting to feel back to myself again. I?ve yet to have a whole day with just me and the kids. My first day will be Monday and I must admit I?m nervous. Konnor is a great baby, but he eats continuously and DD is really impatient. I really hope we can get a schedule down ASAP.
