Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

what do u do with the clothes they outgrow?

save them all for next baby, donate, sell? Do you keep anything?

I am going through about 8 huge containers of clothes so far and not sure what I should do. Makes me a little sad to give it ALL away but dd will be our last child

If you aren't having anymore donate them.

I've kept most of DD's. I'm sure my next will be a boy born in the winter though. lol Than I'll just give them all to good will I guess.

  • I store them away in case we have a girl the next time around.  If I knew we were done then I'd save my favorite clothes to give to my friends when they have kids, then I'd give the rest away.
  • I am going to sort them and keep the ones I love, and have a garage sale with the rest.

  • We will definitely be done after the twins arrive. I will probably consign some of the nicer things (smocked dresses etc). However, I plan to donate the rest. Don't get me wrong....I'll keep a few things (monogrammed items, or those items that mean a lot to me).

Oh, this is like the worst nightmare for me right now!  It's like a full time job!  I have 2 boys, so obviously I save DS1's clothing for DS2.....but we want to try for another baby next winter......so I'm saving everything that DS2 has outgrown.  I probably have 20 bins of clothing in the basement, 2 in each of their rooms to stash stuff in as they grow out of it/pull stuff out of as DS2 grows into it.  I'm constantly reorganizing and in and out of bins.  and I KNOW if I start getting rid of the stuff DS2 grows out of, next baby will be a girl.  And I also KNOW that b/c I'm going to so much trouble carefully organizing and labeling everything DS2 grows out of, it will be a BOY!!!   So, that's what I'm doing, saving everything, storing it in bins in the basement.

  • I've kept everything.  This baby will be the last one, and if it's not a girl, I will probably donate and give my favorite stuff to a friend that is having a girl.

  • We're having a garage sale in a couple of weeks, and I have a friend who is pregnant and finding out the sex soon.  I'm going to keep one box of "special" clothes for each kid - hand knits, picture outfits, etc.

Anything that doesn't sell at the garage sell or get taken by my friend is going to charity.  I literally have over a dozen boxes of clothes on my third floor and I want it gone ASAP!

  • We kept the ones in good condition or that still had tags for #2, just in case we were having another boy - and we are.  Otherwise, we'd have given them to friends and donated some.  I have several friends who are pregnant right now.

ETA - once DS2 outgrows the clothes, we'll probably keep a handful of our "favorites" and give away/donate the rest.

We have a couple of DH's outfits from when he was a baby (which I love). if our children want them one day, we'll have some of theirs too.

  • I'm saving pretty much everything for future LOs (we want a few more Big Smile), but if we were done I'd be keeping a small amount for sentimental reasons, giving away a bunch, donating/selling the rest.

  • I am keeping a lot of her nicer things and having them made into a quilt for her that she can use up through her adult years. A lot of her stuff through 6 months that I didn't keep went to a friend of ours who had a baby 4 months after E was born.
  • We plan to get back on the TTC wagon when DD is 2 so I give most of her outgrown clothes away to less fortunate families and keep a few unisex things and keepsakes "look at these shoes; yeah your feet were this big".
