I'm in the market for a new computer, too, but I've decided against the netbook as a primary pc.
I talked to a couple of people who have them, and they all said "I love it, but I also have my regular laptop at home. This is just for running around."

I got a Lenovo netbook a few months ago, and I'm getting ready to resell it. I gave it a shot, but found myself not using it and opting instead to use my laptop (which I was going to ditch if I liked the netbook). The screen is just too darn small, so you have to do a lot of scrolling, which gets rather annoying. I also was not a fan of the tiny keyboard. Most folks I know who got one have already returned or sold theirs due to the same complaints. So, I wouldn't recommend one.
I have one and I love it for what it is. Meaning, it's great for on the go, some light duty internet surfing etc. I adjusted to the screen and keyboard size rather quickly. There is more scrolling but, it's not a big deal. It is not designed to be the main computer. It can't hold the photos, or lots of data (ie: quicken, word etc.). For a sit on the couch or in bed and surf after kiddos bedtime it's great. Grab it and go to Starbucks for a coffee to de-stress it's fab. It fits in my purse and I don't even know it's there. So, if this fits your needs I say go for it.
