New mommies..how long r u staying home?

new mommies and others, my boys are almost 2 months actual and we are not going outside the house except for doctors visits until at least their due date.  After that we are not sure.  Being summer with a little less risk of colds, I was wondering how long others are staying home?

I have a 3 year old who is getting major cabin fever nad would love to take them all to the park, or library story hour but i am terrified of taking the boys around crowds, especially of kids.

What are your plans?

  • I have taken Aiden out a handful of times but I keep his stroller closed off. I don't take him to places where he would be in an enclosed area with lots of kids. Of course for him if he gets sick his lungs are going to get hit hard so we are being extra careful until his lungs improve. I would take him to the park for walks or walk down my street though. Not a huge risk for germs there.

  • I would think that outside activities like the park would be ok.  You could always park the stroller away from people too.  My pedi also suggested to us to get the bug netting that goes over the carseats.  He said that it would keep people from touching K by forming a barrier.  And what about going on walks?  That you can do just the four of you and it gets everyone outside.

  • We have been staying home other than doctors appointments, and have gone to see the grandparents a couple of times.  I go on walks with her though.  I don't think there is a high risk of germs being outdoors.

I think you should be fine to take them to the park.  Like pp said, park the stroller away from other kids, and keep it covered if you have to.  Have fun!  :)

  • Ask your pedi. Ours didn't give us any quarantine restrictions except the no brainers (avoid sick kids and big crowds). Odds are, as PPs have said, going outdoors is just fine. Use the canopy or a blanket to shield the boys from strangers if they seem like they're going to approach and just say they're sleeping or something.
  • My pedi just told me if we were going to take her out to put a blanket over her car seat to try to make people stay away. I'm sure the park is fine as long as the weather is nice.
