Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

My job sucks!

I just started to think about having to back to work next week.  I am a pharmacaeutical rep and I sell baby formula and drugs for preemie babies.  My days are spent in NICU's, Mother/Baby nurseries, OB offices, and Pediatric offices.  How the hell am I going to get through this!

Background: Our baby has Trisomy 18 and we are terminating tomorrow. Feeling sad, angry and guilty.

  • I have no idea. I am sooooo sorry you will have to go back to that. Big Big HUGS.

  • That does suck. What helps me is to remember that the babies in the NICU aren't MY baby. The baby in the pg lady's belly isn't MY baby and that one day, I pray, I'll have MY take home baby.

  • Oh sweetie, so sorry. Is it possible to get more time off, or do a work from home scenario for a few days next week?

Like you, we also terminated for medical reasons (I can understand those feelings completly) on a wednesday. Physically, I was feeling better by the next Monday, but I then worked from home that next week, and I was so glad that I did. I was in no way productive, or wanting to deal with anyone.

But, if this isn't an option, just know that we're here for you to vent to each evening when you return home.

I don't know if I posted this on your previous thread, or another user's (I hate the fact that there are more of us on here that have terminated for medical reasons...no one should have to go through this), but the website www.aheartbreakingchoice.com got me through a few days.

    Once again, I'm so sorry.

  • Please give yourself time to heal before you go back to work.  I can't imagine how incredibly hard your job is after having a loss :(  Take care of you!
  • Please take some time out for yourself.  Try not to put too much stress on yourself by returning to your job right away.

  • My job sometimes sucks too... am a nanny for a almost 4 month old baby i also live with the family so i wake up walk to his room and pick him! Waking up everyday to take care of someone else baby sucks! But i do very much love the little guy which i think makes it a bit better....

  • I agree with PP.  Take some time (if you can) for yourself.  I would take comfort in knowing that the medications your selling to these units are helping other little babies be healthy and be a loving families "take home" baby.
