Thoughts on hooked on phonics?

I was thinking about ordering this for my son but wanted to get some real reviews/experiances before ordering...thanks!

Re: Thoughts on hooked on phonics?

  • My parents had it for my brother and I when we were kids. I didn't know it was still around!

Hooked on Phonics worked for me! =)

  • How old is your son?  I, personally, am not a fan because reading is about so much more than phonics.  My view on programs such as this is that schools won't buy them so they push them on parents.  If your son is having difficulty learning to read and has been evaluated by a reading teacher at school and all they have tried has failed, then maybe it's worth a shot, but if you are just looking at getting it as a way to teach him how to read, definitely not.
