How many BH is too many in an hour? I wasn't having any up until a few weeks ago and lately they have gotten more and more frequent expecially in the evenings. I saw my doc on 5/3 and everything looked fine - cervix was 4.3 but I wasn't having the BH at that time. Should I call in the morning?
Re: Braxton Hicks a problem?
At 29 weeks I was having them about every 2-5 minutes, they were pretty intense and did not let up after laying down or drinking water. I felt stupid calling the dr. but I did and they sent me right to L&D. I'm glad I went. I was having PTL and was 1cm and 80% effaced. Luckily, they got the labor stopped and I was sent home on bed rest and with a rx for procardia.
If your having any doubts at all, call your doctor. It is better to be safe than sorry.
I also wound up in L&D (3x, actually) in the last month and half due to too many BH in an hour. ?My doctor wanted me to call whenever they got to be more than 4 in an hour. ?At 26 weeks was when I started bed rest after being in L&D the first time, and then 2 more times since then (because I was still on my feet around the house, doing "too much"). ?The 3rd L&D trip I was officially in PTL, 1 cm dilated. ?They were able to stop it with mag. ?Now I'm on pretty strict bed rest, and it helps. ?
I would absolutely call your Dr., because you do NOT want those babies here any sooner than they need to be!?
whenever i called (5+ per hr) i was told to empty bladder, drink a big big glass of water and lie down. if they didn't slow down in the next hour i was to call again or go to L&D.
if they've slowed way down now, just take it easy. i would call tomorrow am though to let OB know what happened and that you've been having more in general.
