What cloth wipes process do you prefer and why?

Do you store them with the solution already ont hem or put it in a spray bottle and spray wipe when needed?

If you put the wipes in the solution in advance how long do you keep wipes in there before they get funky?

I think that having them ready in advance would be easiest for me until I am not changing LO so mucha dn we are out of the newborn stage and then going to the spray bottle way. How does that sound?

  • We use a spray bottle. Initially we had them ready to go but I found that to be more work that it was worth. It's super easy to spray and wipe. Wink

  • If I'm at home I wet it in the sink as I use it. I also have a spray bottle for when we're upstairs.

When we're out and about I pre-wet them and put them in a ziploc bag.

OOO this sounds perfect! i really like this and I also have an upstairs where the bedrooms are and this would work really well for us! Thanks for the input!

We use a squirt bottle (like a peri bottle from the hospital or they're also found in the travel bottles section of Target - I bought 4 so I would have one upstairs, downstairs, diaper bag and car) and wet the wipes as needed.  I don't want to try to predict how many wipes we'll use that day and run the risk of stink/mold issues.

We used to use a spray bottle, but I found that I liked it better to have wetter wipes (and spraying took forever!) plus the squirt bottle is easier to store.  I never liked spraying DS' bum directly either.

^Ditto. In fact I just use my peri bottle from the hospital. It's nice to only wet what I need for the occasion. This way I can also use her dry wipes to catch snot/boogers from the nasal aspirator or wet one to clean her face after she wakes up. And then I don't have to worry about moldy/mildewy smell or chemicals on her bum/face. Water gets her plenty clean enough.

  • This is all very interesting as I am new to all this!

Might be a dumb question, but what kind/brand of wipes are you guys using? Can I use cloth diapers or is there something else out there specifically for wiping a baby's bum?

  • I used to presoak but found they got funky too quickly (dont remember how long it took) now I use a Peri squirt bottle and wet the cloth as needed.
