I have heard to stay away from mayo during pregnancy due to the raw eggs as ingredients. Does anything think store bought (like Hellman's) is OK and safe to eat? I have had some appetizers which include mayo but keep it to a min. Anyone else pick around and consume it every now and then?

It sounds ridiculous to avoid it. I never even thought about that. A lot of people take the whole pregnancy diet thing to an extreme.

I've eaten it as much during pregnancy as I did pre-pregnancy.  Our household would not function without Dukes mayo.  So far so good w/ baby.

I believe that store mayo is fine (it's pasteurized), but home made with raw eggs I would avoid.

I eat vegannise, but that sounds crazy. Its not like the mayo is oozing in raw eggs, right?

I love mayo and I couldn't see eating a burger without it.

any store bought mayo you could find will not contain raw eggs in it, which is the concern...your hellman's is fine!

Well, I just had a honey baked ham sandwich smothered in mayo and mustard. Delish.

I wouldn't worry about mayo.

I eat mayo on my cold turkey sandwhich, which I washed down with a diet coke (my only serving of caffeine today, don't worry   )... I hardly pay attention to some of this stuff.  I think people's immune systems are more compromised from being paranoid.

Mayo does have egg yolks, but store bought mayo uses pasteurized eggs, not fresh, so you're fine.

So You are safe with Hellmanns.
