How do I find child care?

We are expecting our first in November and want to start looking for child care. I'll be going back to work in February, but I have no clue where to start! Can some of you give me ideas of how you found child care? We would like to find an in home provider (either ours or theirs) but we are definitely open to other options.

I actually just posted a similar question. I checked out the site, but it seemed so overwhelming. I was hoping for a recommendation, but didn't get much of a response.

What part of town are you in? Please share if you get any recommendations or figure anything out.

I used the link Carebear posted to weed out daycares. Then I visited (without appts) each center to take a tour and grill them with questions. I don't have any recs for you though so good luck!

We are at FM 1464 and the Westpark Tollway. I've heard of some people doing nanny shares? Have you heard of anything like that?
