I was just curious... I had a miscarriage this morning @ 5weeks.

What really all happens with a miscarriage?

How long does it take?

How common are they?

How long after a miscarriage can you try again?

Does your body have any  weird reactions to the hormones going crazy?

How long until you conceived a healthy child?  

Any advice would be much appreciated. As we really want to have another child.

What really all happens with a miscarriage? I assume you mean physically. Most likely, it will be similar to a heavy period, with some cramping. My early losses were like that.

How long does it take?

This can really depend. My early losses were about 4-5 days of heavy bleeding, and 1-2 days light flow after that.

How common are they?

Sadly, very. 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in a loss.

How long after a miscarriage can you try again?

Your doc really needs to be the one to answer this; it varies. For me, one full cycle after early loss. BE SURE TO AVOID INSERTING ANYTHING IN THE VAGINA (FINGERS, PENIS, TAMPONS, ETC) FOR TWO WEEKS. There is a great risk of infection right now.

Does your body have any  weird reactions to the hormones going crazy?

For me, very similar to any period. I broke out a bit more.

Don't forget, you are going to be sad and that is totally okay. You need to grieve and process this loss.

I didn't have a natural m/c, so my experience is a little different from yours. How common is a m/c? Pretty darn common... According to my doctor, 1 in 4 pregnancies result in m/c. I was told that it was just "bad luck" that I've had two of them (which is not easy to hear when you are going through one).

Just know that every woman, doctor and m/c is different so you should talk to your doctor to see how long s/he wants you to wait before TTC again. For me, I just had to wait one cycle before trying again, however, it took forever before AF arrived for me (I actually had spotting for 6 weeks after my D&C and then AF refused to show her ugly face for what felt like forever).

I cannot answer your question about how long until I conceived a healthy child because I'm still working on that and most of the ladies on this board are in the same situation.

How long does it take? There are many different answers for this.  It depends on how far along you were, etc.

How common are they? more common than anyone realizes

How long after a miscarriage can you try again? Do what your dr. tells you to do.

Does your body have any  weird reactions to the hormones going crazy?  AF is a little bit out of whack.

How long until you conceived a healthy child?  I haven't.  This is TTC after loss.  You might want to ask Parenting after a loss.

Any advice would be much appreciated. As we really want to have another child. Me too.  Lots of women go on to have successful pregnancies but I am not one of them yet.

What really all happens with a miscarriage? My natural m/c was fairly early (6 weeks) and it was similar to a heavy period. My 2nd was a missed m/c so that was a bit different than what you're experiencing.

How long does it take? You've probably gathered from these responses that it depends and everyone is different.

How common are they? My eyes have been opened since my losses. I know now they happen more than most people think.

How long after a miscarriage can you try again? My doctor recommended waiting two cycles. Ask you doctor for their advice.

Does your body have any  weird reactions to the hormones going crazy? Other than being extremely emotional, I didn't notice anything that was too unusual.

How long until you conceived a healthy child?  As others mentioned, you may want to lurk/visit the Pregnant after a Loss and/or Parenting after a Loss.  This board has quite a few of us still trying to get that far.

 What really all happens with a miscarriage? You'll have heavy bleeding and then it'll move to light bleeding

How long does it take? I'm not sure.

How common are they? Sadly, very common.

How long after a miscarriage can you try again? this is something to discuss with your OB. It depends upon what they feel is best for you, being the patient. My doctor told me 1 full cycle before TTC again. However, DO NOT use tampons or have sex, or stick anything up there, for at least two full weeks. The chances of infection are higher right now.

Does your body have any  weird reactions to the hormones going crazy? I was pregnant for 17wks when I had my son. My body/mind was a little wonky up until I got AF again. This is different for each woman and I believe it also depends on how long your pregnancy lasted.

How long until you conceived a healthy child?  Talk to your doctor about when you're supposed to start TTC again. I just started TTC a week+ ago, and this is our first month being able to. We'll see how it worked out this upcoming weekend when I'll test.
