So...after my wonderful day I get a call from my SIL (the 13 year old one) who was telling me about dress shopping for her 8th grade dance.  Then she passes the phone to her mom (my MIL).  She proceeds to tell me about the plans they are doing with the other SIL (with the 5 week old baby) for mother's day.  Since it is her first mother's day they want to make it special. ummm excuse me it is my first mother's day too....

So my SIL (the one with the baby) has had a cold..more like the sniffles and she and her husband for the past 3 nights have been staying at my MIL's house so that Grandma can take care of the baby and sleep with him in the nursery while SIL and BIL sleep in the basement.  BIL didn't want to take care of the baby all night because he has to work and needed sleep...SIL had the sniffles and didn't want to be near the baby....again seriously?  didn't you know what came with having a baby..  Baby will get sick...you will get sick...you will be tired...there were be lots of sleepless nights...It just really irks me.  I would give anything to be in her shoes and she is passing off all of her parenting responsibility to grandma.

Ugh! I will be Judgey McJudgerson here but why isn't she taking care of her own baby? Shouldn't babies supposed to be exposed to our environment, including cold germs?  I could be entirely off base (considering I don't have a child) but they need to live in our world and not be treated like they are a Faberge egg.

This became a bit of a sympathy vent, so forgive me.  But I am shoveling horse sh!t out of the Bitter Barn and am not in a friendly place right now.

I totally agree with you...She should be taking care of her child.  When he is 8 weeks old they are leaving him with BIL's parents so they can fly away to a wedding for the weekend.  Now I understand there are times when grandparents can take baby, but when you are breast feeding and he is only 8 weeks old I don't know if I as a mom would be able to leave my child for that long.  I have a feeling I'll have issues with seperation anxiety for my child than my child will have for me.  This could come from the fact that I'm struggling to have my own child...who knows...she just irks me.
