When are they interested in blocks?

I want to get ds some new toys and was going the wooden toy route. He doesnt seem to understand the concept of stacking and Im assuming its early for that? When do they like blocks and learn stacking?

    DD loves to knock down blocks.  i don't know when she could stack them.  not for a while yet, i'm sure, but she loves some destruction.

    My babies love blocks!  They prefer to knock them down but my DD is trying to stack them. Target makes soft blocks.

    I don't know the general age, but I nannied for a little boy who was about 15 months old when he truly got the concept of stacking things.

    DS got a block set at 7 months and loved them (still does!). He doesn't stack yet, but he loves to bang them together and knock over stacks I build.

    DS just started to stack blocks two days ago. Last night he was able to stack four!
