PT experts... An update: Frustration with DH--Grrrrrr!

So, yesterday, all in all, DD peed in the potty 6 times initiating use all by herself and with enough time to get to the potty, etc.

At midnight, I woke her to pee and she did, and didn't fight us at all (which I was worried she would since she was fast asleep).

At 7:00am (she usually wakes at 745-830am), she woke on her own (I was still sleeping LOL) and she walked past my snoring self into our bathroom where DH was on the potty getting ready for work. She said, "Daddy, I need to use the potty!" AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT DH SAID TO THIS SWEET LITTLE POTTY-TRAINING GIRL?????????????????? "Ok, wait a minute. Daddy's almost done."

Indifferent

Super Angry

What do you think happened next????????????

She THEN peed herself.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Why didn't he yell to me to wake me up? I would've helped her go in her bathroom next door. Ugh. I could kill him. I explained very nicely to him that basically he's a flippin' idiot. He apologized to DD and so did I.

She almost made it all night with dry sheets in the morning.

OMG I could just die right now. DH has no idea how hard she/we've been working on keeping her dry.

DD handled it well and just said, "Mommy, I want to take a shower now."Crying

So, question for you, when do you resume normal life? I want to take DD to storytime at the library today. I'll make sure she pees before we leave, then again when we get there. What do you think? I have a nanny for DS. TIA!

  • I took DD out on day #2 and she did well. We used the potty right before we left the house, right when we got there and then right when we got home again. She did great!

Give it a try. Just take a pair of extra clothes with you. I bet she will suprise you. Or if you are nervous, put a pull-up on over her undies for just in case (which I don't think you would need to do this in all honestly) bc it sounds like she is doing great!

  • Sorry you're frustrated.

Taking DD to the bathroom was just part of life since she was born...  So I'd want to resume normal life ASAP.  It will take a lot of pressure off of you all.  Your plan for story time sounds great.  Bring extra pants just in case.  Misses can be a big part of the learning process.  For your daughter and for you and DH.

  • I'd be pretty irritated at DH for that!

My DD has never had a problem with holding it - she goes every few hours just like I do. Her problem and when she had the most accidents were when she was in the car (even if she had just peed 30 seconds earlier, which is why I thank heavens for Piddle Pads for her carseat), when she was kinda zoned out like when watching TV or having books read to her, or when she was tired at the end of the day.

I'd take her to the library and maybe when you get there have a little chat, tell her that she can get you anytime she has to pee, show her where the bathroom is, etc.

    GL!

  • That is frustrating.  Good learning experience for DD and for DH, huh?!

I, too, would go for it with the story time at the library.  Both my kids were good at holding it, and -- like brightning said -- only had accidents in the car or when they were really concentrating on play.

    Dead.

How very frustrating for all involved!

As for out and about we just peed before we left (still do ... it's a good habit!), put a cloth diaper down in the car seat just in case and went for it!

We did use pull ups for about a week if we needed to take a very long car ride.

Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
