Where do you get pictures taken?

I'm so excited about getting pictures done of Logan! When my boys were little we would go to Olan Mills and/or Sears.  I don't even know if Olan Mills is still around and have not had an experience with Sears in years!

We will probably have his first professional pics taken @ 3 months. I did 3, 6, 9 & 12 months with my older boys.

Where have you found that takes good pictures without breaking the bank?

Thanks!

ETA:  I just discovered that Olan Mills is in the Kmart here. Of course I don't know that since I never go there. :)  I was always very pleased with pictures from there.

Re: Where do you get pictures taken?

  • I have heard good things about The Picture People. I am not sure if you have them where you live. They don't have a sitting fee, and they always have really good deals online. I have friends that go every few months for a sitting and it doesn't break the bank at all.

  • Shannon-I have also heard good things about Portrait Innovations. I do know they have some locations in Indiana (I have a good friend in Indy who uses them....I think in Carmel?). But I am sure they have other locations! I think it's the same deal....no sitting fee charge etc.
  • We've done Picture People and Sears. The quality was better at PP, the price was better at Sears.

  • The closest Picture People is 45 miles away.

  • We go to Portrait Innovations.  We have been very pleased with the pictures--and, you get the finished product in less than an hour after you are done selecting your poses.

My only complaint is that it is WAY too easy to spend TOO much money!!

  • No Portrait Innovations close by either.

I guess I will probably have to stick w/ Sears or Olans Mills unless I go to a "real" photographer.

  • We did ours at JCPennys. We were able to use coupons and the prices were really good. Overall it was a very good experience.

  • I didn't think about JCPennys. I'll have to check and see if they have a portrait studio in ours.

  • We went to The Picture People and were pretty happy with the results. I shopped around to JCPenney, Sears, and The Picture People, and the latter's work, at least where I am in NJ, seems more professional and modern looking.

  • I went to Sears for Valentine's Day after finding out that Kiddie Kandids had filed for bankruptcy, and was not too happy about the price for what you got, especially because the quality was really not good.  The paper they print the pictures on is incredibly thin, and they charge you extra if you want the pictures the same day.  I haven't tried the Picture People, but from what I've heard, they do a really good job, but it's pricey.

When I was at BRU on Wednesday, I was excited to see that Kiddie Kandids had re-opened on May 3.  They told me that it had been acquired by someone, and that other locations would be re-opened soon.  Not sure if there is one by you, but Kiddie Kandids gives you really nice quality pictures for a decent price, and you get all of your prints the same day, and the disk, the only downside being that you only get to pick 6 to 8 shots.  Or at least that's the way it was with the old management.

We did go with a "real photographer" for DD's 6 month and 1 year pictures, and there is no comparing the quality with a studio.  But we spent SO much money on that, it's crazy really.
