bruised arm from blood draw

I had blood taken last week and right after it, my whole arm was so sore, and felt like I pulled a muscle! Now I have a big dark purple bruise on my outer elbow and light purple bruise on the inside of my forearm stretching about 4"x 1" and a little swollen (not even near where the needle was)- I don't know why its like this, but it is still sore to bend my arm 10 days after the blood draw!  What could have caused this?  Has this ever happened to anyone?

I tend to bruise a lot after blood draws -  it may be from taking the bandage off too early.  Try a warm compress and some motion.  It should clear things up pretty quickly and help with the soreness.

I sometimes bruise after a blood draw, but never that bad. I hope your arm feels better soon hon

I had one phlebotomist I refer to as "the troll" who did that to me twice!

I bruise from every blood draw, so I can empathize.  The raised bruise is probably from a little blood collecting underneath the skin - try massaging it with a warm compress.

Yes!  4 days ago I had a blood draw, where the blood wasnt going into the vial and the nurse reached for a new vial.  I think it screwed something up, and my arm feels just like yours, extremely stiff and sore. 

I asked my RE about it today, and he said it was a hematoma, and just to rest my arm and it will go away on its own (eventually).  It's my right arm though, so the pain is making if difficult to do things!

There is a topical gel you an try called Arnica I think. Its a homeopathic remedy, I dont know if you have to be careful using it while trying to conceive though.

There is this one plebotomist I keep getting and she mess up my arm every time. I have a nice size bruise from her right now. Worse thing is she use to do the impatient at my hospital, you would think she would be a rock star. Noooo the other day she stuck me 3 times!!!
