How much mucinex or Robittusin?

I picked up Mucinex at the store and it said 600mg tablets, take 1 every 12 hours. But I read somewhere to take it 4 times a day for help w/ cervical fluid. Confused!

I would think mucinex would dry up cervical fluid???IDK...interested to read other responses!

I read that mucinex actually does help with cervical fluid... I think it was in TCOYF.  I would go with the recommended does.  Too much of the drug is bad for you... which means bad for future baby.  Do you typically experience any EGCM on your own?

Robittusin will thin your CM, which is good if you find that you have more sticky vs watery or EWCM, therefore creating a hostile enviroment for sperm.

I would recommend getting guaifenesing tablets, which is what is supposes to increase CM, many Robitussin cough syrups don't contain guaifenesin at all. Also, even with Robitussin that has guaifenesin, you will also get all the other active ingredients, which may reduce the effectiveness of guaifenesin in thinning cervical mucus, and could even have adverse effects on fertility.

If you go with the Robitussin, take two teaspoons, three times per day for the five days before and including the day of ovulation for a total of 6 days during your cycle, which is hard to determine.

Mucinex does NOT produce or increase ewcm.

The Guaifenesin in the drugs cause thick ewcm to thin out. Is your ewcm too thick?

If not you should not take over the counter meds on a regular basis for no reason.

If you do have thick ewcm and need to take the meds make sure that guaifenesin is the main ingredient and there are no added antihistamines which could dry up your cm.

Robitussen is every 4 hours (it always makes me sleepy so I use Mucinex). Mucinex is every 12 hours unless you get the 24 hr kind. Drink lots and lots andlots of water!!! I get horrible chalk mouth when I take it!

On the subject of mucinex...the OTC stuff is super pricey! Depending on what your copay is on rxs, try to see if your doc can prescribe it for you. I was shocked at what a better deal I got. My spelling is bad with drug names but it's Guafensin.

Thanks  for all is info.  I am doing EVERYTHING this month (robittusin, green tea, pomegranite, pineapple core, preseed, etc).  I have a list.  Only bad part is if/when it DOES happen, I will have no idea what really did it. 

Also, how bad is the taste when you swallow a mucinex?  Makes me gag, but it really does work well when I have a cold...
