Work vent-Long

So this will prob. sound confusing.  Back at the beginning of April my boss came to me and pretty much told me he was afraid I was going to get hurt at work and really wanted me to try and go on leave early.  I am a vet Tech and so he was worried about me handling the animals and being around the dogs.  I pretty much ignored him, told him my doctor saw no reason for me to go on leave and left it at that. I did decrease my hours a little bit to shut him up.

So I was planning on making this week my last week of work because there is really nothing for me to do there and I stand around all day and feel like he is staring at me wishing I was not there. So I went in on Tuesday and we were so slow that I left at 12 because we have 4 other techs so there are 5 of us all together in a 2 doctor practice which is way too many. Then on Wed there were only 2 app in the am so the head tech told me not to come in because they were so slow. (Then she told my boss that I was not in because i was swollen and in pain) So today i decided to call my boss and I said I can eithier finish out the week or be done now. I am just soo sick of him making comments about there being nothing for me to do there and blah blah blah.  So he said well I really don't want to see you get hurt and were not that busy. SO I said ok I will not be in today and I have a doc appointment today so i will see if she will sign the paperwork for me today.  SO then My good friend sends me a text that said Dr. Rothman ( my boss) Just asked me if you were coming in today????  WHAT?  I

That is beyond frustrating. I am a vet tech to and have had a long and hard pregnancy so far. I haved my best to not allow it to effect my work.... i.e throwing up for 12 weeks in various garbage cans, still staying late for emergency sx even tho I wanted to cry and pass out at the same time from pain and exhaustion, lifting and wrestling dogs I know I shouldnt be. I was hospitalized twice for various things and have been having contractions since 25 weeks.

Last week my OB put me on a restricted schedule, I gave my boss this news on monday... I normally have tuesday offf. Get a call tuesday night saying dont come in tomorrow we are overstaffed and under booked, great no big deal. I work thursday, the one who handles scheduling says that her and my boss havent figured out a solution for my "situation" yet. Told to come in 10-6 friday to "accomidate" my restricted schedule (doc said only 7 hour days, do math much?). At 4 o'clock on friday the wench, i mean my boss, calls me into her office says we dont offer 7 hour shifts and doesnt want to set that kind of president for anyone who gets pregnant in the future and my materinty leave starts the next day. I got up and left.

I am sick over how much effort I put into that job and nothing. I love what I do but will NOT be going back to that hell hole. Im sorry, it sounds like you are getting the run around to. I hate being home but at least I dont have to get dirty looks from my boss anymore!

I totally agree with you! I hate being home too but its soo much better than walking around in circles trying to find something and feeling invisable! I love what I do also and have no plans to go back there!!  Our head technician is such a snot and does not communicate with any of the other techs!

Our head tech is a wench to! The only other person who can stand her is my boss who everyone hates as well, Most of us would probably think for a second before pulling off a dog or cat that was attacking her. Throughout my pregnancy she would spew her "facts" about pregnancy, all I ever responded with was Oh I didnt know you were pregnant before or when were you pregnant. It always shut her up pretty quickly. Good Luck to you in the final weeks of your pregnancy

Ha! Sounds just like our head tech! I have no idea why our head tech is a technician. She is soo cold and I really don't think she likes animals!!
