is your progesterone covered by insurance?

in 1st Trimester

I'm taking a 200mg progesterone suppository twice a day until 12 weeks.  My prescription isn't covered by insurance.  The pharmacist said insurance doesn't usually cover it but then I wondered, why not?  Is yours covered by insurance?

    How much does it cost? Looks like I'm going to have to start Prometrium this week. Is it pricey?

    Mine is covered, but probably becuase was was Dx with IF issues

    I use Crinone (progesterone gel) and it is very pricey and not approved by my insurance so I pay a big portion and they pay a small portion.  I am thinking that they probably cover progesterone in another form, perhaps the pills, and that then I would only have to pay a small co-pay.

    Insurance may not cover it because there is no evidence that supplementing pregnant women with progesterone will do anything.
