Calzones?

So now I have left over pizza dough, so I thought I'd make calzones. Problem is I haven't had one in like 10 years. What are some good/your favorite combos to put inside?

Re: Calzones?

  • Sauce, ricotta, ham and mozzarella.

Garlic, oil, sundried tomatoes, spinach, ricotta or fresh mozzarella maybe some fresh basil too.

  • I made buffalo chicken ones for the superbowl a few years back.. I used blue cheese as the sauce.. and I think I just tossed the chicken in hot sauce.. oh and probably mozzerella cheese too cuz i put that on everything.

  • I normally just make mine w/ traditional pizza toppings... sauce, moz cheese, mushrooms, pepperoni etc

I love chicken finger calzones too. You could make it healthier by using baked chicken.

  • I love spinach, garlic, artichoke hearts, olive oil, grilled chicken

  • You know something? I'd never had a calzone with Ricotta til I moved to NY (It's not a boston thing) and I still can't eat calzones out here.

    Eggplant, ricotta, and mozzerella

    Spinach, ric, & mozz

    Broccoli, ric, & mozz

All with sauce on the side. Not a huge fan of putting meat in - it gets too greasy for me.

  • Ricotta, mozzarella, and either pepperoni/broccoli/spinach....I never put sauce inside-I serve it on the side for dipping instead. I'm probably making these tomorrow-yum!

  • My favorite is ricotta, mozarella, sauce and the jarred red sweet peppers.
