Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I need to get rid of this muffin top!

And apparently, just paying the gym $45 per month won't help me do it.  It turns out I actually have to go to the gym in order to get this thing to go away.  Who knew?

Have any of you found good exercises to work off the muff? Whenever I go to the gym (of course I haven't been in almost a year), I have no idea what to do so I just end up doing elliptical or whatever and then going home.  I think I read on here that straight crunches make the muffin top look worse.  I would *greatly* appreciate tips on exercises to work this belly flab off!

Thanks!

Ha Ha,,this is totally me!!! been paying $40.00 a month and haven't gone to the gym in I couldn't tell you how long!!!

  • Tracy Anderson post-pregnancy DVD. It's exceptionally difficult but has gotten rave reviews.
  • Honestly I have done the gym thing with all its glorious equipment but I have found that walking, jogging and/or running has been the best for me. I used to be a runner before I had DD and jogging/running has MELTED the weight right off. I got toned, lean and looked really good. Since having DD, I just go for 1 hour walks, 5 days a week. I have a jogging stroller I plan on using really soon so I can start jogging/running again. Also, I am a good eater, lots of grilled chicken, no pop, lots of fruits and small meals through-out the day. Yes, I do have junk food pretty often but in moderation. It just takes time. Like they say... 9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off! I still have mine...

  • Crunches and sit ups are great but if there is a layer of fat on top those abs will never show will all of the sit-ups in the world.  Gotta work off that layer...I am certainly no expert as I sport the muffin as well and I think it will be even harder for me to get rid of after having my 2nd.  Think we need to do as much cardio as possible to work off the stomach fat.  I did buy the 30 day shred which a lot of people on here discuss.  It is good but do not think it includes enough cardio to really get rid of the muffin unless you diet.  I refuse to diet so have to find a way to get that cardio in!  If you cannot get out to run, do jumping jacks and jump rope (or just simulate the jumping rope without the rope) and go for as many walks with baby as possible!!
  • I don't do gyms, I tried the 30 day shred but quit after 15 days, and just don't like exercise routines.  I found walking daily with DS in the ergo has done wonders for my belly.  Maybe I'm just sweating out the weight from him being against me, but it's working.  Also, he doesn't like to rock in his glider, but instead likes to go to sleep with me bouncing him on the exercise ball.  That also has helped.
  • what if you signed up for a session of one on one training.  i just started running last week. i am hoping it will go away in a month or so of running, if not theni am going to ask a trainer at the gym for advice.  i need to lose 15 pounds to get to pre preg weight
  • PS--sorry for all of the errors in my post!  Also--I am paying for my gym membership and have not been there in over 2 years (since I was preggo with my first).  I refuse to give it up because I will feel like I have given up!  I did however get them to reduce the rate from 55 to 28 per month by threatening to quit.   Give them a call and get them to reduce your monthly rate...they will not want to lose you and I am sure you will get the price cut!
  • I'm in the same boat! I feel really good about myself except my muffin top. I've been doing Wii Active lately, and taking more walks with DD since it's nice outside.
  • Eat well!!!  If you work out and eat like crap it will do you no good.  Lots of water, fruits and veggies.  That on top of a couple of a days of cardio a week should help out a lot.
