stinky cord

DD's little cord is stinky. The skin around her cord is not red, but it did bleed a little yesterday (which I think can be normal) and there was a red/brown discharge around it today. Hmm, what do you think?

  • DD's smelled AWFUL. It also bled a little. I put neosporin on it, and that helped quite a bit.  As always, ask your pedi though. :)

  • I called and the nurse said that if it were a few years ago they would suggest using rubbing alcohol around it, but now hospitals don't suggest it so they don't. She also suggested coming in so they could take a look, but said I could wait it out until tomorrow and try to air it out a little to get rid of the smell. So we're trying to keep her belly exposed to air! Wish me luck:)
  • ds cord smelled so bad it made me gag.  Turns out it's normal for them to have a stench.  it wasn't infected, it's just rotting flesh more or less.
