Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I really, REALLY hate Huggies!

It seems like no matter what she does, it leaks out the side. One pee, it leaks out the side and the bottom. She pooped, it leaked out both sides. She pooped, some how it came out the bottom of the diaper again. She'd peed, leaked out one side.

Now, the size is right for her, they're also put on properly. And for the life of me I can't figure out how it's leaking from the bottom! We change her diapers soon as she does her business so we're not letting too much get in there. I don't get it. I just don't get it. Anyone feel this way about Huggies? (Size N) Did we just get a crappy pack or is this a reoccuring problem with them?

We tried Pampers Swaddlers with Dry Max and not only did she have blow out in those (from the sides) but they gave her a nasty rash. Luvs seem to be the only promising diaper right now.

  • We had the same problem with huggies. But pampers work fantastic for us!

  • Huggies are horrible!  We had blowouts almost every diaper with huggies. The only time we have ever had an issue with Pampers is when we were trying to finish off our size 1's but they only leaked like 3 times.  Pampers has a sensitive diaper, maybe you can try those.  Otherwise I would stick with luvs, whatever works for your babies body type!

I hate Huggies too.  DD leaked through every single diaper.  Dry Max worked great for us but after hearing about all the horrible rashes so many babies were having we switched to Target brand diapers.  They are working great so far.  No leaks!

Same here.  I got a lot of Huggies sz1 as gifts, so I can't wait until they are gone & then I'm going back to Pampers.

  • For those who had issues with Huggies, did you ever have leaks out the bottom? It was as though Brylee had peed and it just began leaking straight down. I've never seen a diaper do that before. Sides yes, bottom no.

  • We got Pampers, Huggies and Luvs as gifts. We've tried all three. The Pampers seem to run big and DS leaked out of the Newborn size quite a few times. He's been fine with the size 1 and 2. The Huggies fit DS really really well and we have never had a blow out. Luvs have been the worst! He has had a few blow outs with those. Thankfully, they are all gone. I think we'll be sticking with Huggies once we have to start buying them.

We love Huggies - the Pampers fit LO weird & make me nervous that they are going to leak - we have a pack of size 2 that we were given. We actually had quite a few leaks with the newborn Pampers when we first brought LO home - so I think it depends on how your LO is built.

  • i had trouble with huggies, too but I loved Pampers. Sorry you're having problems with those too. I know you think your baby is in the right size, but you may want to consider going up a size. When DD was 8 lb 3 oz (at her 2 wk doctor appt), she was clearly in the size "N" guidelines, but she leaked in 2 diapers in 2 days... so I upper her to size 1's and no more leaks, just had to roll the band down a little when i hooked them.  There's nothing wrong with Luv's. I also like Walmart brand.
  • Huggies don't work well for us either.
  • ugh i am so fed up with diapers right now...everything was going awesome with Pampers swaddlers...we did the newborn size, then size 1, then size 1-2..and then the damn drymax crap so we are in the "process" of finding a new diaper..and its not pretty...we first tried the baby dry by pampers in hopes that they would be as good as the swaddlers NOPE i freaking hate them!!! they leak pee all the time!!!!! then we tried Luvs..we have blow outs soooooooo bad..I cant tell you how many issues we have had in the last week trying different diapers...we tried huggies little snugglers or whatever they leaked as well...we did find one case of swaddlers size 2 WITHOUT drymax and bought it, so he is currently in those...i dont know what the hell i am going to do once those are gone...Target brand...maybe huggies pure and natural...shoot I dont know..hopefully pampers will go back to the old swaddlers and cruisers without drymax and i wont have to worry....

Luvs work the best for us. Also I've heard that the Fisher Price diapers at BRU are good but I haven't tried them.

  • My SIL had the exact same problem with Huggies. She's used Pampers with both children. Now the newborn is using the new Dry Max by Pampers and although its only been a week and a half, hasn't had any problems yet... I have to warn her about the claims though.

  • ever think about switching to cloth? :) We haven't had any leaks or blowouts (using prefolds/fitteds and covers).
  • we have the same issue with the huggies, unfortunately we were given a TON at my shower...we are almost done with them and i can't wait....we also had some pampers swaddlers (before the dry max came out) and those worked great for us....  it's frustrating, but at least you found some that work!
