Woman At Work TTC

This woman I work with has been TTC for a year and a half.  She just turned 43.  She is lukewarm about the idea of being a mom - her DH is the one really pressing for it.

She knows what I'm going through but to listen to her talk about it from her perspective I am SHOCKED about how ignorant she is about the process.  For example it seems not to have crossed her mind that b/c she's 43 she might have trouble conceiving with her own eggs BUT she worries about stuff like whether she'll need a gestational carrier (and has no reason to think that).

I want to point her in the right direction but don't want to give her unwanted advice.  She's a smart woman and I figure if she was really serious about this she would look into it herself...but I have to bite my tongue every time we talk about it!

Nope.  I said to her if she's really serious she should see a Dr...

Then I think you probably gave her the best advice possible! :)

  • It's hard not to give myself away when people talk TTC, cause I know way too much info!

A co-worker just came out to me yesterday about being pg (on her first cycle, ugh).  The first question out of my mouth was "So I guess you ovulate on your own then"?  She looked at me like I was crazy.

    Me: PCOs DH: Perfect!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!

To a fertile that is an off the wall comment. Honestly, before TTC  and these boards) I never new it was possible to NOT ovulate and still have a period. I knew better than to think every woman ovulates on CD14, but I had never head of PCOS. However, looking back, I have always had wonky cycles and it makes perfect sense that I have it.

Haha!  I know, I have to hold myself back from saying "well, you could use donor egg if you couldn't get pg, but first get your FSH and AMH tested and have an HSG."  I would scare the SH!T out of her.

  • You are so right!!  I hear people at work talking about this all the time too (most of my co-workers are in their 20's, recently married and SUPER fertile!!), and I also have to bite my tongue to stop me from jumping in.
