AW -- DS lost his first tooth!

Unfortunately, he swallowed it.  He dictated a piteous note to the tooth fairy who was willing to take the note instead of the tooth and leave him some money.

His gappy smile is SO cute!

LMAO!!!  Poor thing.  So glad the Tooth Fairy was so understanding.

After all... you'd hate to end up needing to sift for that tooth due to the Tooth Fairy not being flexible in situations like these.

So..... what's the going rate with the good old Tooth Fairy these days?

And... do we get to see a pic of that new grin?

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

He asked if the tooth would ever come out or if it would be in his stomach forever.  I said, "It'll come out the same way your food does, after you eat."

He said, "What, like in my poop?"

I said, "Yup.  Think we should look through your poops for the next few days to find the tooth?"  (I was joking -- I knew he'd never seriously want to do this.)

He said, "Ew -- no way!"

In our house, the tooth fairy gives $5 for the first tooth and then $1 or $2 for all the others, depending on how much money she has in her bag.  We also go out for ice cream to celebrate the first tooth.  We have a book One Morning In Maine by Robert McCloskey, in which the main character, Sal, loses her first tooth while she's digging for clams with her father.  The tooth falls into the clam puddle and they can't find it, but she still makes her secret wish (for a chocolate ice cream cone) which she gets later that day on their trip into town.

Fortunately, we had just read the book the day before DS's tooth fell out, so he was prepared for how to handle it if you can't actually put the tooth under your pillow.

That's classic!  I think we'll be finding that book.  Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Awwww, what a bittersweet milestone!  They definitely seem more like "big kids" when they start losing teeth, but..it's also fun and exciting!

I hear that Tooth Fairy gal is pretty understanding about not having an actual tooth to collect.  Wink  My sister swallowed one of hers as a kid too.

  • I'm so glad he doesn't want to look through the poop!

    I'm sure he looks adorable.
