Our baby was born about two weeks early and was fairly small. Right now she is right around 6 pounds and is three weeks old. She really runs on her own schedule, so we have no set time that she sleeps or eats. We want to get her on a schedule, but are trying to figure out the jumping off point and when to start. Also, she has been fairly gassy, so that messes with her wake time. Now when she is awake she expects to either be eating or to be rocked. Need to break that habit. Thanks for advice in advance.
Re: When did you get your LO on a schedule?
They don't really have "habits" at that age, yet. And don't worry, you can't spoil a 3 week old
LO is still not on a schedule. IMO its way too young to expect that.
Little one has established his own schedule, with no influence from me. And I have to say... it's a pretty good schedule.
He goes to bed, without fail, every night, between 8p.m. and 8:30p.m.
He wakes up anywhere from 3 to 5a.m. for a feeding. If he's up at 3, he'll be up again at 5. After the 5a.m. feeding, he wakes up at about 7:30 or 8a.m.
He's up for about 45 minutes, then down for 45 minutes. Then he's up for an hour, down for 30 minutes.
Up "for the day," until about 3 or 3:30. Sleeps for three hours. Up at 6:30p.m. - Has a bottle, plays for an hour, bathtime, bottle, bed between 8p.m. and 8:30p.m.
*shrugs* I'm happy with the bedtime and the up-time so I haven't tried to modify it and wouldn't have the slightest clue how. Nothing became regular with him until about two weeks ago, by the way.
Just follow your baby's lead and I would give it until about 12 weeks before I started getting worried that he wasn't getting into a routine.
