Went to the pedi today since DS has been sick with a cough/fever and when they weighed him he is lighter then he was at his 12 month check up. Now he hasn't had an appetite since he got whatever virus this is last thurs/fri so that isn't helping, and DS has always been on the lighter side of the scale - like 5-10%.
The pedi said bump up his milk with pediasure or carnation instant breakfast, and to put butter on everything! So I started doing that today, but does anyone have any good ideas of food/meals with lots of calories that would help? I want to try to keep some nutrition in there so I'm not just feeding him french fries with butter
tia!
Re: how do i fatten up a 14 mo. old?
I supplement with Pediasure (most major supermarkets have their own brand as well that is cheaper) and feed DS avocado, full fat yogurt, bananas, sweet potatoes, cheese and adding a little olive oil to vegetables, hard boiled egg yolk and I have also heard some people add coconut milk to things (ive never done it).
Hope that helps!
thanks for all the suggestions! DS loves cheese so we'll have to do more with that, and I hadn't even thought of olive oil!! I've tried avocados with him but maybe if I try mixing it with something else he will like it more.
guess i need to take a trip to the grocery store tomorrow
