Diagnosed with PCOS

Im a little sad. Please give me some positive thoughts.

I was told my DHEA levels were really high so I went to the endroconologist and told me thats probably what I had. Whats funny is that I have always had a regulaer period except for this month and I concived two healthy girls without even trying. I have always (since Jr. High) have had some hair under my chin so I don't think this is something new, but no everything is coming out. I want a third baby at some point soon, but scared Im going to have trouble getting pregnant. Also, Im scared of having insulin problems.

  • I have it. I have always had regular periods too. I can't seem to lose these last 10 lbs to save my life. I do try to limit my carbs, but don't obsess over it. I am on metformin for the insulin resistance.

  • I could be the poster child for PCOS. I've probably had it since I was about 16, but doctors didn't really know what it was back then.

The biggest side effects of PCOS are infertility and a link to insulin resistance and diabetes. If you are overweight, you can mitigate these by eating a lower carb diet. Insulin resistance can also be treated somewhat with a drug called Metformin -- you may want to ask your Doctor about this.
