He got to the point that he was just chewing it so one day, I just didn't give it to him for nap and he was just fine. We haven't looked back since.
ETA: My son was a paci ADDICT, too. I was soooooooooo scared that he would never come off of it. I am so glad we waited until he was ready. Plus, if your LO doesn't have all of their teeth, you might want to wait until they do. The paci was a real comfort to him at that time. No need to rush it :-)

He got rid of it (on his own) at 21 months.
