Moms of girls...

Do your little girls have bangs?

I have considered letting the girls bangs grow out.  Not sure though.  Do you prefer girls with/without bangs.

Re: Moms of girls...

  • DD doesn't have enough hair to even pull into a pony yet, so I don't have personal experience. I do know that I don't prefer bangs on anyone, any age. To me, they frame the face in unflattering ways and they're just something else that needs regular maintenance. That said, I know lots of little girls who have bangs b/c their hair was always hanging in their face and becoming uncontrollable.

  • Nope--DD#1 always had curly hair & curly & bangs don't mix.  DD#2, same deal just not quite as curly.

  • NO I am not a fan of bangs. They are too high maintence for me, they require constant trimming to look cute, and are a pain to grow out.
  • The only time DD had bangs was when she was 1 and wouldn't keep a clip in her hair.  I can't imagine her with bangs now, I don't think they would look right on her at all.
  • Yes. Her hair is fine and thin, so I keep it short (chin length bob). If she didn't have bangs, that hair would always hang in her face. If her hair was thicker, I'd grow it longer and grow out that bangs. I'd be able to pull it back then, but its WAY too fine for clips right now.

ETA: I generally prefer no bangs. I think they look cute with short bobs on girls with fine hair like my DD's, but on thick hair or long hair I'm not a fan. My niece has super thick hair that is cut between shoulder and chin length and her bangs look ridiculous.

  • If I could cut bangs on DD, I would.  But, she has curly hair so they won't work.  To me, her hair always looks undone b/c she won't wear anything in it and it's wild.  If she could wear bangs, I'd feel like it was "done" all the time.  But, I can imagine the upkeep is a bit of a PITA.

  • No. I'm not a huge fan of bangs. I think they're just too much work.

  • I love little girls with bangs, but DD has curly hair so they don't work.
  • Nope. DD has waist length hair and other than a little layering on the sides of her face, her hair is all one length.

  • DD1 has them--her hair is STICK straight and they would never stay out of her face.  She has a gorgeous hair line (I do not) so she'll eventually not have them.  For now though, it is a struggle just getting a brush through her hair, let alone put anything in it!

DD2 does not have bangs, but only because she doesn't have enough hair and they haven't grown in yet!  She has about the same hair as her sister so will probably also have bangs when they finally decide to grow in.

  • We cut bangs on DD#1 when she was 2ish or so- at the time I was glad to have a 'style' of some sort.  Once she got into preschool she wanted to grow them out like one of her friends.  My rule was that if she wanted to do this, then she had to put a clip/pony, etc to pull them out of her face when she was growing them as I wouldn't have them hanging in her face.  She agreed to those terms.  It's gone really well & they are almost all the way grown out to her short bob.  It's so cute, I love it!

  • One of our DD has bangs (the 4 year old).  Our 6 1/2 year old DD grew hers out last summer.  Both ways are cute.  I like the bangs for the younger one better.  I think no bangs would make her look too old :)

I'll just allow one of the girls bangs grow and and then compare.  :)  This will also help us (and everyone else) tell them apart!

J/K (sorta)  I think Im going to allow them to grow out this summer.
