Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

For those who LOs are in toddler beds.

My DS is 19 months and I thin that thats a little young for a toddler bed, bt for the last months or so he has been waking up in the night screaming. i go into his room and he is standing up with his blanket wanting to get out of his crib. Most times I end up putting him in the bed with us and he is fine. I am wondering if it is time to switch to a toddler bed. He sleep fine in his crib for his naps during the day.

What to do????

  • My DD is actually in a full size bed.  Although it's just a mattress on the floor.  She wouldn't sleep in her crib at night.  Ever.  We were desperate to get her out of our bed.  We had been co-sleeping for over a year.  She  wouldn't sleep in her crib converted to a toddler bed, which we tried first.  Guest mattress was the only thing that  worked.  It looks terrible, but at least DH and I get some solid sleep!

  • I guess because we coslept, she hated her rib but once she was 13 1/2 months and started the toddler room, she slept on the cot with no problem. I converted her crib into her toddler bed and she loves it. We went to target together and she picked out her bedding. They have toddler bed in a bags lol

  • It doesn't hurt to give it a try.  Brooke is 18 months and we just put her into a toddler bed last weekend.  She has successfully been sleeping in it for over a week now... naps and bedtime.  We have no issues with her waking up in the middle of the night and when she gets up from a nap/for the day... she just knocks on the door to be let out.

  • I moved Kate to a toddler bed just last week and it has been absolutely fine. She has never liked her crib and would stand up and cry.

The first night she did fall out, I think she was confused that the side wasn't there when she woke up. I got a night light and there have been no problems since.
