I had to rationalize it with DH by telling him all her big ticket toys (swing, bouncy chair, activity center, playmat) are all hand me downs from family.
I got the Sophie too and G isn't thrilled with her yet. He'll try to put a part in his mouth and just throw it down. I'm really trying though--I'd hate to spend that and him not even use it!
Can I ask where y'all are buying them and for how much?
I'm a pretty cheap person but I don't really consider $15-20 (on Amazon) a "big ticket" item. Sure it's more than the $3 I probably spent on a teething ring but I guess I'm just not seeing the "huge expense" here.
We have two thanks to the post office misplacing the one my mom sent back to us for 2 months (I thought it was lost forever so I bought a new one). Tracey still loves sophie at 15 months and we keep one in the car. She loves to twist her neck and make her squeak.

Exactly. It is $15 no tax/free shipping on Amazon.
Re: I caved...
I want to, but I let it slip to DH how much it cost. If he saw Sophie I'd have to lie and say it was a gift.
Besides, DS will chew on anything he can get his hot little hands on. So we're good for now.
