Curious--do you know your child's blood type?

I just realized that I don't know my son's blood type.  I am Oneg and DH is Opos so I think that both of our kids must be type O.  (But I really don't remember how that works from high school biology).  I know DD is positive because I had to have a rogham, shot after she was born.  But for the life of me, I can't remember if I needed the shot after DS was born.  I'll have to make it a point to have the pedi check their medical records because now I'm kind of curious.

Do you know your child's blood type?

Re: Curious--do you know your child's blood type?

  • Yes because when she was born they wrote it on the "Its a Girl" tag that was in her basinette in the hospital. Plus we are both O+
  • I had to ask DH.  I know I should know but I'm not good with details -- good thing he is!  :)

  • Nope. I'm not sure if either of my kids has ever had their blood type even tested.
  • I can't quite remember.  I know they told me in the hospital.  And I know that DD is rH negative because they said she'd need to know when she's pregnant (why they made a big deal about it when she was 1 day old, I'm not sure, because I'm O+, it didn't affect us at the time).

I THINK DS is O+ too, because I remember thinking "oh, like me".  But, I'm not entirely sure.

  • Yes, A+ because both DH and I are.

  • Both of my children were typed at birth. They're both A+, like me.

  • I know mine from donating blood, but don't know DD's.  I don't think they ever tested for it.  DH doesn't know his blood type, either.
  • Yes because I'm B negative and DH is B positive. I got the initial rhogam shot when pregnant but didn't need one after the boys were born because they were also both B negative.
  • Yes, I do.  All three of us are O+

  • Nope, because I'm B+ and they don't do blood typing on mom's that aren't type O or not a - Rh factor.
