Eco-Friendly Family

First full 24 hours of CDing =

SUCCESS!!! Way easier then I expected and I used prefolds and covers the whole time, didn't even break out the AIO's yet! Oh and most importantly, no more red butt on LO! YAY! We even went to the mall as a family and used CD's the whole time. So proud of myself and so were the other moms who were in the Nordstroms womens lounge nursing their LO's (hey I can't afford Nordstroms but their nursing rooms are awesome!) The only thing I had not thought of was where to put the wipes after I wipe LO. So I am going to use an empty wipes container for them and just dump them out at the end of the day. I want to use cloth wipes but am waiting till I get this CDing down then by mid summer I should be full cloth!

  • Yay! Glad it is going so well!

Do you mean you're using disposable wipes & don't know where to put them? I use disposable wipes when we are out & I have to change DS (doesn't happen too terribly often, he's still pretty little so we don't go on very long trips). I throw them in the toilet & flush them. HTH!

fyi, most wipes aren't flushable.... so i would just throw them away vs flushing them.  it's bad for the plumbing!

  • What diaper system are you using?  I have a three week old and I am just trying our Flip cloth diapers on her with the organic cotton inserts.  They seem a little bulky, and I am wondering how people are folding the insert to get the best fit.  Any advice?

um, yikes. I can't believe I have 2 kids who have worn or are wearing diapers & I did not know this. I never have any occasion to use disposable wipes at home, we use cloth, but I did not realize this...

::: embarrassed but glad I learned this :::

I use the flips with the organic insert, but my LO is 10 months old, so we don't have to fold down.  I did flip it down at first...I flipped in the front b/c it seemed logical.  Sorry I don't have any advice.  GL...I really am happy w/the flips.
