Oh DH. We're both home and decided that there's nothing stopping us from having a mojito at 4pm. We grow mint in out backyard specifically for mojitos (yes we're lushes) so I asked DH to go out and pick some while I got everything else ready. As we're drinking said mojitos I mentioned "these taste a little funny, I wonder if something happened to the mint over the winter and its no good anymore". He said the plant looked fine, but the catnip (planted right next to it and also a member of the mint family) didn't look like it was coming back too well. I thought I remembered the opposite being true last time I was out in the backyard so I asked him to show me which plant he picked from... sure enough, it was the catnip. So, catnip mojitos it is. They aren't horrible since catnip is a type of mint, just not delicious. Next time I will be picking the mint.

I'm sure there are "official" recipes somewhere, but we kinds just throw stuff together.
Leaves from 2 large mint (not catnip) sprigs
Approx. 1 tbsp of raw cane sugar (we use Sugar in the Raw) or simple syrup
(Muddle or crush together, to bruise the mint leaves)
1 lime, cut into quarters leangthwise
(squeeze juice into glass then add the juiced pieces to glass)
(fill glass with ice)
add Bacardi (the regular stuff, not spiced) 1-2 shots
fill glass w/ club soda
Enjoy!
Again, I'm sure someone will call me out for this not being a "real" mojito, but really, its close enough :-)
