When were you notified of your closing date? Our lawyer/the bank told us early next week, but when will we know the exact date? Is it possible they will Monday and say, "oh by the way, closing tomorrow at 9am."

I used to do real estate closings as a paralegal. The bank generally needs a set date at least 2 days in advance to run all the numbers. I've NEVER had shorter notice than that.
Just stay in touch with the lawyer. We were given a ball park idea. It kept getting moved around but then we were surprised that it was moved up a day or so.

Our closing kept getting pushed back because the bank wasn't ready. In the beginning of the week I calling the bank constantly because we were going to be homeless if we didn't close. I talked to them on Wednesday (I think) and they said we were cleared to close on Friday. Late Thursday night we got a phone call telling us exactly how much our final check should be for and told us what time.
