Salt cured salmon. Can I eat this?

We are right on the ocean and going to a party tonight where they are serving salt cured salmon (not cooked with heat). What do you think?

IMO, I wouldn't eat it unless it was kept chilled in some way at the party.  I'm just picturing room temp. smoked salmon and thinking bad idea. 

I adore lox, but I've gotten food poisoning from it once before and don't eat it anymore unless I order it off a menu and know how long it's been sitting out.

ooh good call about the sitting out. It probably will be sitting out for a while. Ok I was trying to not be such a nut this pregnancy but I still don't want to do anything that's going to make me sick, especially because i'm still bf ds. Thank you.

You can't.  I know because I love cured and smoked salmon and it's killing me, seriously, not to be able to eat it.  The only smoked salmon that's safe to eat is shelf-stable (doesn't need to be refrigerated) and it's just not the same.  You're essentially eating raw fish so it's the same reason you can't eat sushi.  It's the potential for parasites.
