Question for moms

DH turns 30 in January. Depending on when LO arrives, I would be 4-6 weeks post partum. Did you feel like having a party at 6 weeks postpartum? I am thinking of a beer tasting type of party.

Am I absolutely crazy for thinking I could pull this off with hired help? (I would hire to clean, keep the beer stations filled, keep the food coming and for cleanup)

Its really hard to say.. a lot of it will depend on how you and the baby adjust to one another, how you adjust to getting very little sleep.  At 6 weeks B was still getting up every 2-3 hours to eat.  I had surgery when B was 4 weeks old (nasty case of mastitis became bilateral breast abscesses, had surgery to drain them) so I had a lot of help.. I probably could have done it, but I wouldn't have enjoyed myself much.

Personally, I would not have felt up to it. I could have done maybe 2 more couples for dinner but not a big party. I just didnt have the energy for it. I also would not have had N around that many people that little. Again, that is a personal preference. I would not have been ok handing him off to one person after another (especially in a drinking situation) and having them all up in his face.

My LO is a year old and looking back at 6 weeks I personally wouldn't have been able to pull it off unless everything had been done and put together way in advance. Even them LO was still nursing every 2-3 hours and we had the reflux situation. If you could I would wait a little longer but that is just me.

Sorry I am late on responding.  I don't think I would have been up to it at that time.  4 weeks PP, definitely not.  6 weeks PP, probably still not.  You won't want the LO around too many people at that point.  Shoot, Mungee is almost 9 months old and I still don't know how I could pull off putting together a party   That's just me though
