if you give chicken to your LO

I want to give Logan some chicken (as he had a piece of chicken nugget at daycare today and they said he liked it, but we are trying to feed as organic as we can...so anyhoo).  How do you prepare your chicken?  Baked?  Any spices?  He's not had spices before.  He's had ground turkey.  He's 10 months (in case you didn't see my ticker).

TIA

Re: if you give chicken to your LO

  • You can create a crispy coating from any number of things he may already eat and like. Abby used to get down on some goldfish encrusted chicken =)  It's just enough salt to make the chicken tasty. Ritz crackers work too. Abby used to eat just plain cooked chicken at that age though too. Nothing added.  Now. It's nugget or nothing.

  • DD's had chicken a couple ways, and its always just however we've prepared it for ourselves. Baked stuffed chicken shredded up for her, chicken cooked in the crock pot as chicken & dumplings, and chicken from my enchiladas.
  • We cook it on the griddle, either plain or with some garlic powder.

  • J has had chicken cooked just about anyway possible, including KA's tacos.  He started on table foods around 8 months and always eats whatever we are having for dinner, we eat a lot of chicken. :)
  • She pretty much eats the same chicken we do (so, usually cooked on the skillet).  I'm actually making my own chicken nuggets for her now adapted from this recipe

I'm using matzo meal because it's what we have on hand.

Yum, have you made these before? They sound good.

The only chicken DS has had, I baked with peaches and a little bit of cloves and nutmeg. We then pureed it with apple juice. He has about 5 of these still left in the freezer. He actually likes them despite me thinking they are pretty gross. He had one tonight for dinner actually.

I thought about purees, but her REALLY wants finger foods and is not so into purees at the moment.  I guess he is on the mends from being sick (I hope)
