Does this progress mean anything?

During an internal at my 37 week (plus 2 days) appointment today I was 3 cm dialated, 80% effaced, and at station -2.  My mucus plug is gone.  Do people think this kind of progress means anything or am I likely to be in the same position for weeks?  At my 36 week appointment I was not dialated but told my cervix was very, very thin (no numbers provided).

Well if you start having contractions they wont send you home since you are 3 cm so thats good! GL

I think the station is a bigger deal so you are on your way.

I have heard that for first-timers, effacement matters more at this stage than dilation.  Doesn't tell you when you'll go into labor, though, but when you do, your body doesn't have far to go.

Well, I didn't get to 3cm until I was on pitocin for an hour (water broke, no progress)! So, you're well on your way!
