so my husband just bought Orange Juice from the farmers market, and on the label it says "unpasteurized- not recommended for children, elderly, or people with weakened immune systems"
part of me thinks- yikes! I shouldn't be drinking unpasteurized stuff- there could be harmful bacteria in there, but the other part of me thinks- all it is is fresh squeezed orange juice- I wouldn't be so freaked out if I squeezed my own oranges at home.... what do you guys think?
Re: unpasteurized oj?
Since it's from a basically unknown source, unpasteurized & with a warning like that, I probably wouldn't drink it.
ETA: "people with weakened immune systems" includes pg women, IMO.
Unpasteurized or "fresh squeezed" juice is listed at the bottom of this page along with other foods to avoid while pregnant.
