My DD has been potty trained for 3 months now (she'll be 3 in August). She has not wet her night time diaper in roughly 3 months, even before that it was rare for months. I'm at the end of my diapers I had for her and she's now in a big girl bed (out of her crib). Should I just leave her in underwear at night? When I have mentioned it to her, she seems excited to be done with diapers (she's into being a big girl right now).
Should I just switch over to underwear? I guess I think it's silly if she NEVER wets at night. But it seems like many of my friend's/family's kids don't give up the night time diaper until they are like 4?
Thoughts? Is there a good reason to keep them?
Re: When to go to underwear at night?
Not sure if it's relevant but DD1 didn't daytime PT until just shy of 3.5...
Two months after that she was waking up dry--just sort of happened all of a sudden. We kept her in a pullup overnight for about another month and then went to undies. I think she's had MAYBE one accident in four months--and she woke up as soon as she started going and was able to stop herself so it wasn't even a full-blown accident.
Ditch the diapers! Congrats!
try, no harm in that, especially since she's so excited.
Ethan was pt'ed at 28 months and slept in diapers until he was 3 y.o. until he refused to sleep in them. I was too lazy to deal with wet sheets in the middle of the night, I was pg and not sleeping well as it is.... but once he refused to wear pullups at night, that was it. He only had a few accidents since then, he's 5 y.o. now.
Definitely try underwear! I bet it'll be a success because she's shown you she can AND she wants to .
DS was day-trained shortly before he turned 3 and only wet his night-time pull-up in the first week. When he woke up dry 2 or 3 weeks in a row (so 1 month later), I figured I could save the money for pull-ups and he's only had one bed-wetting incident since then.
