Dropping a bottle?

DD is currently getting 4 bottles a day of 7 ounces each. But she never, ever finishes any of them but the last bottle of the day. I hate that we are wasting so much formula. I am considering dropping one of her bottles. She currently takes a bottle at 7:00AM (when she wakes up), 11:00AM (after 1st nap), 4:00 PM (after 2nd nap), and 7:00PM (before bed). She also eats solids twice a day (trying to work up to three times): at 12;30 PM and at 6:00 PM. I was thinking of eliminating the 11:00 and 4:00 one and feeding her at 12:00 or 12:30 instead. That way she can eat her lunchtime solids after her bottle, and then she gets solids again pretty soon after her 2nd nap.

Anyone try this or something similar? What was the outcome? Would it be better to let her drop a bottle on her own? Any advice would be appreciated!

TIA!

Re: Dropping a bottle?

  • what about just reducing the amount of formula in each bottle?

we recently dropped a bottle, but it was the overnight one, so that was pretty easy to do.

DS wakes at 6:30-7.  For breakfast he gets a 5-6oz bottle at 8AM, followed by a fruit.  Then at noon he gets lunch of 5oz bottle and a veggie.  He has "dinner" at around 4-4:30 of another 5oz bottle and veggie.  Then at bedtime (7:30) he gets 7oz bottle.  We give the veggies/fruit about 30 minutes after he finishes the bottle otherwise he spits up a bit.
