SAHM

for those of you who are staying at home with a LO this age.....what do you do all day?  I try to get busy while LO is napping, (or get busy bumping...haha) but what do you do while he or she is awake?  I feel like all he's doing is laying on his playmat and I'm shaking toys to "play" with him.... what else should we be doing?
When it's not windy or snowing (like it is today) we walk in the afternoons, and run random errands....but what about at home??

Re: SAHM

  • i read to her, she does about 15-20 min in her jumperoo, she loves the playmat/tummy time, her swing, and she loves her rattles and key toys.   add in her feedings/naps/diaper changes and that is our day if we don't have anywhere to go......

  • Ohh, I remember those days when we only had one kid and I stayed at home...I still do now, but it was almost boring with one child...especially when they are little like this...there really isnt a whole lot you can do with them...just let them play, play with them, take LO outside, buy a baby pool, get a jumperoo...having two kids has made my life a little more interesting and busy.

  • Well, that's pretty much it.  I play youtube videos of mickey mouse clubhouse on my laptop too.  They are a very good distraction during tummy time.  We go out and walk around a store just about every day, and DS spends a lot of time in his exersaucer chewing on his toys.  I bought him a sippy cup yesterday so he could "practice" with it.  We also practice sitting up while momma watches TV.

  • We read. I also do stuff around the house with DS in my Moby or Bjorn because he loves just babbling and looking around. This way we can chat together and I can get more accomplished.

glad i'm not the only one who feels like this!! Big Smile

  • When I just had one daughter, we would go for walks, run errands, go to the gym, take classes etc. The library is also a good choice. Most libraries have the children's area separate from the main areas so you don't have to worry about noise so much.

Enjoy the peace and quiet, if you ever have another baby, you will look back on this time and see how easy it is!

We're like this too.  DS likes watching me do my chores!

  • We have a playdate/gym/class or something every day.  Today we are going to a free music class at a toy store by our house.  The lady plays guitar and has puppets and whatnot, she loves watching it.  We do library babies and a gymboree type class.  Most of which are free, the gym class is $10/week.  We go grocery shopping...

But while we are at home, we go for walks, play in the tub, sing songs, take naps, eat... lol.  She sits up with her boppy for support while I do chores and whatnot.  It's not much fun at home yet, that's for sure :)
