DS has been having trouble lately with lots of spitting up, LOTS of gas, screaming episodes in the evening, pulling away while nursing, etc. so I took him to the dr last Sat. They prescribed Zantac for him and said he probably has some reflux issues, but the Zantac doesn't appear to be working very well. He goes back tomorrow for his 4 month shots and I intend to ask if there's something else that can be done for the poor kid because he doesn't seem to be getting any relief. What are you all doing for your LO's if they have reflux? (FYI, DS is both BF and FF because I'm back to work and have a low supply.)
Re: if your LO has reflux, come on in....
This. When DD started Zantac, it was like a whole new baby! My pedi told me that if I didn't see results in 5ish days, she would try the Pepcid. Definitely ask yours! Good luck!
This.. We use Zantac twice per day and it only helps with the pain. Since his spitting up is so awful, we asked the dr about putting rice cereal in his bottles, which he said we could do. During the day while I work, DH puts 1 tablespoon of rice per oz in his bottles of bm. It makes his spit up a little thicker, but he still spits up. When I'm hope I EBF and his spitting up is much worse.
Hey lady!
J is on Prevacid. The Zantac didn't work for him because of his weight. He does very well on the Prevacid. When he gets extremely gassy, we were told he could have 1/2 teaspoon of Mylanta in his bottle. This helps a ton! J has been on this since he was 10 weeks old.
