Moses Basket Anyone?

DH & I received a Moses Basket from Restoration Baby yesterday as a gift from my BIL. Has anyone used one of these? Any reviews? I've read decent reviews on them. Just not quite sure how I feel about it. It's an extravagant unpractical gift, but it's beautiful and something we can use for future children or pass on to Baby Love when he has children of his own.

Bonus - it matches our bedroom colors. :)

Re: Moses Basket Anyone?

  • Our bassinet is essentially a Moses basket on a stand. It's not really fancy, pretty simple, and it's all we used the first few months. I would bring it downstairs for him to sleep in, and we would bring it to my grandparents' house for him to take naps, etc. It worked until we moved him to the crib.

  • I have zero knowledge about the practicality of something like this... but from someone that doesn't have a baby and just likes things that are 'pretty' I looooove the look of Moses Baskets.

(I'm hoping you get tons of "we love it" "so practical" "perfect" responses so when my day comes I want one, too!!!)

  • We have the same one and I LOVE it!  It's what both of our girls have slept in exclusively at the beginning (first 4 months-ish for Kennedy and Atalie is still using it).  We keep the stand next to my side of the bed (and I love that it rocks), but we move the basket around the house when we need to.  Also, I take the basket when we travel instead of the PNP, which is great because there is no assembly.  One thing I would recommennd it one of these, mainly to keep DC from burying their face in the bumper, but it also helps protect against flat head, and it is the perfect size to fit in the moses basket without moving around - we have two so we always have a clean backup in case of spitup, etc.  Our girls never sleep in it without one.   Hope that helps - feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Looks like I'll be getting a stand and boppy head support. I'm so happy to hear that it works and someone loves it. It's too beautiful not to love. I did think it would work great for travel, but I was concerned w/the comfort level since theres not a lot of padding in it. I'll keep you in mind if I run into any questions. Thanks!!

  • I REALLY wanted a new bassinet when we had Teagan but I was scared to death that Taryn (being 2.5) would tip it over and he'd fall out.  A moses basket would have been a great option because then he would have been on the floor, etc. and not able to be tipped over and a falling risk.  In the end, I wore him a ton or he was in the swing but if we have another I'm buying a moses basket, I think I would have used it alot.
