Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Does your LO hate being in the car?

because my does! He screams and screams during car rides. I've made sure his straps aren't too tight, give him toys to play with, sit next to him, sing to him....nothing seems to work.. He will be screaming one second and the moment I take him outa the seat he is all smiles.

Any suggestions? Does your LO do it too?

  • We actually got one of those mirrors with toys to attach to head rest, but our van doesn't have head rests :(

  • If I stop DS cries so we now cut through parking lots to avoid red lights.

I did get a toy bar to attach to the handle of his car seat and can reach back and turn that on easier than fishing his paci out of the car seat and trying to get that in his mouth.  The toy bar has helped a lot, it's like baby crack for him.  We also have a mirror on the head rest and even though we got it so we could look back at him, he loves to look at himself.  I also find singing to DS puts him to sleep.  I know I can't carry a tune and apparently he does too so he copes by sleeping.

We got one too! We just got it on Tuesday. He's still crying though!! IDK what the heck to do!! I just spent $29 on that stupid mirror too. Ugh

  • We have the same problem with LO in the car. He is okay during early in the day car rides not sure why this is. But if I'm out past 6pm he is out of his mind crabby in the car. And we have had one of those mirrors since day 1 and really all it does now is make it so I can see his sad face while he screams :(

  • Yep, DD is a screamer. I think there's something about that angle of the seat; not quite lying down and not quite sitting up. Her bouncy/vibrating chair is the same angle and she hates that too.?
I have no suggestions b/c I havent dealt with this before (DS fell asleep in the car as an infant). The best I do now is make sure she's full before getting in the car, and driving close to nap times. Both of those things increase the chances she'll sleep. ?

DS used to. We just stuck it out, I found that if I took him out once a day for about two weeks straight that he became more & more comfortable with the carseat, maybe take him to family or friends, it's probably not too fun to be put in the car seat if you know you're off to the doctor's for another shot.

Maybe you can move LO to a convertible carseat.  Some people have said that made a difference for their LO.  Although for DS it really hasn't.  : (
